STUDENT UNION MARKETING
While attending Cal State Northridge, I worked as a designer for the University Student Union's Marketing team. I had the opportunity to design several marketing pieces that are shown below.
What is the University Student Union?
The University Student Union (USU) at California State University, Northridge is a student centered non-profit organization that works to expand the college experience through various programs, services, employment, and involvement opportunities.
The mission of the USU is to foster the achievement of students’ educational goals by facilitating a strong connection between students and their campus community.
We are an engaging and energetic campus program that develops students through inclusive activities, meaningful employment opportunities, leadership experiences and innovative technologies, facilities, and services.
PRIDE CENTER: BLAQ FUTURE & BlAQ MAGIC
Event description: The goal of Black History Month is to bridge the gaps between the black community and the LGBT community. The audience will gain a sense of black culture incorporated with LGBT terminology and influences.
Bio:
Chaz ashley-cruz is a BlackQueer (BlaQ), multidisciplinary, scholar, poet, educator, artist, organizer, partner & friend. He was raised in the deserts and cities of Southern California by his maternal grandparents - this upbringing informs his compassion towards addiction, survivors of trauma, and elders.
They earned their B.A. in Liberal Studies from Cal State LA, and M.A. in Organization Leadership: Higher Education & Student Affairs from the University of San Francisco. Chaz brings critical womanist/feminist, queer theory and critical race theory to education and student affairs work with love, engagement, and intentionality. As a BlaQueer educator, he believes education can be a unifying and liberating tool.
Chaz’s work is informed by their interest of sharing truth & stories, and exploring identity as an ever evolving, ever expanding Black/BlaQ, 1st generation academic, lovechild. Their work primarily explores the complexities of identity, race, gender, sexuality, art and futurity.
